Oscar nominations - After thoughts

Yesterday, 83rd Academy Awards nominations were announced and most of these were very predicable with some few surprises here and there.

Let us start with Best Picture:
Pretty predictable, and as expected without The Town, Shutter Island, Ghost Writer or Another Year and some surprising snubs for Rabbit Hole and Blue Valentine. The Fighter and Winter's Bone got lucky though. Rest were predictable.

Best Animated Feature
No Tangled, but all of my predictions got nominated with 100% efficiency. Great work by me!

Best Director
No Nolan? Wow, he's got 3 DGA nods but no Oscar nod. Pretty weird, and perhaps a huge snub.
Interesting nomination for David O Russell, while Coen Brothers were always Academy favorites.
Rest were predictable.

Best Original Screenplay
No Black Swan? Huge snub.
Another Year is an interesting nomination here. Rest are predictable.

Best Adapted Screenplay
Very very predictable, and we all know the win as well.

Best Actor
Again, very predictable noms, but no Ryan Gosling? Jeff Bridges is a surprise here and there is no Aaron Eckhart.

Best Actress
Its Annette Bening versus Natalie Portman. Rest are predictable, Jennifer Lawrence's nod is pretty interesting.

Best Supporting Actor
No Andrew Garfield? Weird noms for Jeremy Renner and John Hawkes. Rest were predictable.

Best Supporting Actress
No Black Swan at all? Jacki Weaver is interesting nomination here, both Fighter ladies got in here. Hailee Steinfield's nom is also pretty interesting.

Best Original Score
Pretty much as expected, but pleasantly surprising nod for 'How to Train Your Dragon'. Again, 100% efficiency, all of my predictions were correct. Bullseye!

Best Editing
No Inception? Most weird snub in all nominations. No Shutter Island? Well, I got 4/5.

Best Cinematography
Very very predictable, again I got 4/5 correct.

Best Production Design
Pretty predictable nods, another 4/5.

Best Visual Effects
Wow, no Tron Legacy?? Weird, and no Scott Pilgrim vs. The World?
Rest were predictable.

So these were my after thoughts. Throughout the February, I will post some winner predictions, so stay tuned.
